Dr. Godfred Ameyaw Asiedu is a fish, fisheries and aquatic scientist with professional training and experience in fisheries and coastal management (science, policy, project management, monitoring and evaluation).
Godfred has a PhD degree in Fisheries Management from the University of Wollongong in Australia, MSc degree in Aquatic Ecology from the University of Bremen in Germany and BSc degree in Zoology from the University of Ghana. His core scientific knowledge is supplemented with people, management and policy perspectives. The title of his PhD thesis is “Managing Conflicts in the Marine Fisheries Sectors in Ghana”. He worked on the Role of Chironomid Larvae in the Regeneration of Nitrogen in Freshwater Sediments and Swimming Crab Fishery of the Lower Volta Estuary for his MSc and BSc thesis respectively.
Godfred currently works as a Research Scientist (Fish and Fisheries) with the CSIR – Food Research Institute. He focuses on conducting research into problems of fish food processing, food security and advices government on fisheries policy. He has worked in various capacities such as Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist on the USAID/UCC Fisheries and Coastal Management Capacity Building Support Project implemented by the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences, University of Cape Coast, Ghana. He has practical work experience with WorldFish and the Coastal Resources Center, University of Rhode Island (URI), USA on the USAID/Ghana Integrated Coastal and Fisheries Governance Program for Ghana as a Coastal Fisheries Advisor and a Research, Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist respectively, and with the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development of the Republic of Ghana as a Fisheries Officer.
